Casting decides half of the campaign before a single frame is shot. This is how we find the face, book it and keep the rights in order.
Casting on character, with the collection in mind
Model casting in Milan starts from the collection and the brand. The book of faces comes after. The art director writes a casting direction with the brief: age, attitude, body, the way the clothes have to move, and what the customer has to recognise. From that we build a short list, run a casting session in Milan or review self tapes for brands abroad, and present two or three options per role with fitting photographs. The brand chooses. Beauty gets a model into the room. Character is what makes a campaign stay in someone’s memory.
Agency casting and street casting
Milan has the model agencies that supply the fashion weeks, and we work with them every season for campaign, ecommerce, lookbook and runway casting. When the brand needs a face the agencies do not have, we street cast: a scouting team, a release and a test shoot, and a model who belongs to the brand rather than to every other campaign that month. Street casting takes longer and we plan it into the calendar. Many of the strongest campaigns we have produced were built on a face found in the street.
Contracts, usage rights and model booking
The question that costs brands money a year after the shoot is rights. Every model booking we make states the territory, the channels, the duration and the paid media use in the contract, negotiated before the shoot day and delivered with the files as a rights record. A model booked for ecommerce only cannot appear on a billboard. A model booked worldwide, all media, three years, can. The brand knows what it has bought, and the agency knows what it has sold.
Fittings before the shoot
A model who does not fit the sample loses half a shoot day. We fit the collection on the chosen models before the campaign, the lookbook or the ecommerce set, and when the garments are produced in our Italian ateliers the samples are fitted weeks earlier, in the atelier, on the model who will wear them. Casting for a runway show follows the same logic, with walking tests and a full fitting day before the show.
Casting for shoots abroad
For productions on location outside Italy we cast locally with the same method and the same contract standard: our casting direction, a local casting director we select, options reviewed by our art director, and contracts in the language and the law of the country. Local faces in local markets make a campaign feel native, and the rights record stays in Milan with the rest of the production.

One contract, from the fabric to the picture
Riccitelli Milano is a production agency first. We develop and manufacture collections in Italy, and that changes how we shoot them.
The samples are in our hands weeks before the shoot, so fittings happen on the real garment and the art direction grows with the collection instead of arriving at the end. The same project manager follows production and campaign, the delivery dates are aligned, and you sign one agreement instead of five. For brands producing in Italy from abroad, this is the shortest path between the first sketch and the first sale.
