Certified production and traceability
Certified made in Italy, proven by a QR code on the garment
Made in Italy is worth what you can prove. We produce on a supply chain we control from the yarn to the packed garment, with the certifications the market requires attached to each programme, and on request we issue a digital product passport: a QR code on the garment that shows the final customer every origin.
This page is for brands that are asked, by buyers, by auditors or by their own customers, to show where a garment was really made and what it is really made of. The record is written on a blockchain traceability platform as the production happens.
Produced in Italy, answered for in Milan
Really made in Italy
Materials bought by us with the lot recorded, development and making in Italian workshops we assign and inspect. Where a specific material comes from outside Italy, that origin is recorded and shown as what it is.
Certificates follow the lot
Fibre, chemical, social and quality standards confirmed before the order and attached to the production file, so the claim on the hangtag and the paper behind it match.
A passport on the garment
A QR code linked to the digital product passport: yarn and mill, fabric, workshop, finishing, date, certifications. Written on chain, it cannot be edited after the fact.
Ready at delivery
The passport is built on the record we already keep for every programme, so it can cover a full collection or a single hero product and is ready when the collection ships.
What we certify, what we record and what the customer sees
The label is regulated by the rule of the last substantial transformation, and a garment can carry it even when much of the work happened elsewhere. We do not produce that way.
What "really made in Italy" means with us
Yarn and fabric are bought by us from Italian and European mills with the lot recorded; patterns, samples, cutting, sewing, pressing and finishing happen in Italian workshops we assign and inspect; the record of each stage is kept by our team. A brand that produces with us can say three things and support each of them with a document: where the material comes from, where the garment was made, and who checked it.
Certifications, lot by lot
Every certification the market asks for is available on our chain. A programme may carry fibre standards for organic and recycled materials with transaction certificates following the lot, chemical safety standards on fabrics and trims, social compliance and code of conduct audits in the workshops, and quality management standards on the process. Which ones apply depends on the product and on the part of the chain it runs on. We confirm them before the order and attach the certificates to the production file. See supplier audits and code of conduct compliance and fashion sustainability certifications.
The digital product passport with QR code
On request, each garment carries a QR code linked to its digital product passport. The customer who scans it sees the origins of the piece: the yarn and the mill, the fabric, the workshop where it was made, the finishing, the date, the certifications attached to the lot. The data is written to a blockchain traceability platform as the production happens, so the record cannot be edited afterwards and the brand does not have to reconstruct it later.
An additional service, built on our record
The passport is quoted with the production as an additional service. Because it is built on the record we keep for every programme, it can be issued for a full collection or for a single hero product, and it is ready at delivery. It also prepares the brand for the European digital product passport rules that are reaching textiles, see textile traceability and digital product passport data.
What the brand can do with it
Sell on provenance: a scan on the hangtag or in the garment turns made in Italy from a label into a story the customer can verify in the store or at home. Answer buyers and auditors in minutes: department stores and marketplaces increasingly ask for origin and compliance data before listing a product, and the passport answers with the lot record. Protect the brand: counterfeits and grey imports cannot reproduce a passport written on chain, so the scan tells the customer whether the piece is yours.
How it works in a programme
We agree the scope of the passport with the brand at the start: which products, which data fields, which language. The record is built during production by our team, the QR codes are applied at finishing, and the brand receives access to the platform with the collection. Nothing about our workshops or mills is published beyond what the brand chooses to show its customers.
Five stages, one token, one scan
Every stage of the garment writes a record to the ledger as it happens. The records are linked under one token for the batch, and the QR code on the garment opens that token for the customer.

Marks shown as an example. The certifications on a real passport are the ones that apply to that product and to the part of the chain it was made on.

Everything a buyer, an auditor or a customs officer may ask for, produced during the programme rather than reconstructed afterwards.
From scope to scan
- Step 01Scope of the passport
Which products, which data fields, which languages, agreed with the brand with the production scope.
- Step 02Certifications confirmed
The standards that apply to the product and the market are confirmed before the order and the certificates requested with the lots.
- Step 03Record during production
Yarn, fabric, workshop, finishing and inspections are logged as they happen and written on chain.
- Step 04QR codes at finishing
Applied on the hangtag or inside the garment, to the brand's specification.
- Step 05Delivery with access
The collection ships with the certificates, the reports and the brand's access to the platform.
The passport can be added to a running programme at the next lot. For a first collection it is agreed with the production scope.
One contract, from the yarn to the campaign
Riccitelli Milano produces the collection and, if the brand wants it, the images that sell it.
The same team that follows the garments from the fabric to the packed order can produce the campaign, the lookbook and the launch from Milan, on the same calendar and under the same confidentiality. For brands producing in Italy from abroad, this is the shortest path between the first sketch and the first sale.
The doubts we are asked to remove
- Authenticity"Half the "Italian" producers we found were owned elsewhere and finished the garment here."
Our materials are bought with the lot recorded and the garment is developed and made in Italian workshops we assign and inspect. The passport shows the customer each origin, including any material that comes from outside Italy, stated as what it is.
- Compliance"Our retailer asks for origin and chemical data before listing a product."
The certificates follow the lot and the production record answers the request in minutes, without reconstructing the chain after the fact.
- Proof"A certification logo on a website proves nothing to our auditor."
Agreed. We do not print logos. We confirm which standards apply to your programme and attach the certificates with the lots, where an auditor expects to find them.
- Counterfeits"Copies of our best sellers reach the market before our own delivery."
A passport written on chain cannot be reproduced. The scan tells the customer whether the piece is yours.
Frequently asked
Is your production really made in Italy?
Yes. Materials are bought by us with the lot recorded, and development, cutting, sewing, pressing and finishing happen in Italian workshops we assign and inspect. Where a specific material comes from outside Italy, that origin is recorded and shown as what it is.
Can you prove the origin of the yarn and of the production?
Yes. Every programme is recorded lot by lot, and on request we issue a QR code digital product passport that shows the customer every origin, from the yarn and the mill to the workshop and the finishing, written on a blockchain traceability platform.
Is the digital product passport included in the production?
It is an additional service, quoted with the production. It is built on the record we keep for every programme, so it can cover a full collection or a single product and is ready at delivery.
Which certifications can my collection carry?
The ones the product and the market require: fibre standards for organic and recycled materials, chemical safety, social compliance, quality management. We confirm the applicable ones before the order and attach the certificates to the production file.
Can we audit your production?
Yes. Audits, third party inspections and visits are arranged through our team, under the confidentiality that protects our workshops. The production record and the certificates are available for any audit the brand needs to pass.
What does the customer see when they scan the QR code?
The origins of the piece: yarn and mill, fabric, the workshop where it was made, finishing, date and the certifications attached to its lot, in the language and the level of detail the brand chooses.
Can a passport be added to a collection already in production?
Yes, from the next lot. The record for earlier lots is still kept by our team and can be attached as documents, but only lots recorded on the ledger during production carry the QR code.
Does the passport reveal your workshops?
It shows what the brand chooses to show its customers, typically the category of workshop and the region. Our suppliers remain confidential, and the ledger record proves the stage without naming them.
